About The Role

Canonical, the global leader behind Ubuntu, is expanding its engineering teams with Golang Engineers. In this fully remote role, you will build high‑performance, secure backend services that power Ubuntu’s distribution, cloud, and IoT offerings. You’ll work alongside a diverse, distributed community, contribute to open‑source projects, and help shape the future of open‑source infrastructure while enjoying the flexibility of a home‑based worldwide position.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services in Go.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Golang components into Ubuntu ecosystem.
Optimize code for concurrency, security, and scalability across Linux distributions.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration pipelines.
Contribute to open-source projects and documentation.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Go programming language and its ecosystem.
  • Deep understanding of Linux operating systems and command-line tools.
  • Experience with RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows.
  • Ability to write clean, testable code and conduct unit/integration testing.
