About The Role

Rackner, a leading defense‑focused technology services firm, is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to build secure, high‑impact backend systems for Department of Defense missions. The role involves end‑to‑end ownership of APIs, data pipelines, and containerized services, leveraging Python, C#, FastAPI, and geospatial databases. Candidates will work remotely with periodic onsite collaboration, applying rigorous security practices to deliver mission‑critical and innovative capabilities.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and integrate secure backend services and APIs.

Build and maintain services using Python, FastAPI, and C#.

Implement asynchronous workflows with RabbitMQ and Celery.

Containerize applications and manage deployments on OpenShift.

Drive secure SDLC practices, code reviews, and vulnerability remediation.

Requirements

Strong proficiency in Python and C# development.
Hands‑on experience with FastAPI, REST, and gRPC.
Solid understanding of containerization (Docker/OpenShift) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab).
Experience with PostgreSQL, PostGIS, and relational data modeling.
Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
