About The Role

Canonical, the global leader behind Ubuntu, is expanding its Cloud Field Engineer team to help enterprises adopt private and public cloud technologies. The role blends deep Linux expertise, cloud architecture, and Python development to design, deploy, and hand over robust solutions. Candidates will work remotely, collaborate with global customers, and travel occasionally for strategic engagements, driving innovation across the cloud ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Design and implement private/public cloud solutions using OpenStack, Kubernetes, Ceph, Hadoop and Spark across on‑prem and public clouds
Develop Python‑based automation, Kubernetes operators and infrastructure‑as‑code scripts
Provide hands‑on consulting, deployment, testing and knowledge transfer to customers and internal support teams
Mentor peers, conduct technical workshops and promote a collaborative engineering culture
Travel up to 25% globally for customer engagements and events

Requirements

  • Strong Linux fundamentals covering kernel, networking and storage
  • Proficiency in Python for automation and open‑source development
  • Hands‑on experience with OpenStack, Kubernetes and major public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for client interactions
