About The Role
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems. We're seeking junior professionals to join the Canonical Kernel Team and work on the Linux kernel for Ubuntu.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain Linux kernels for Ubuntu
Tackle serious initiatives such as optimized solutions for key Silicon and Cloud partner platforms
Work on developer platforms such as Raspberry Pi and RISC-V
Enable Ubuntu on a wide range of embedded systems
Implement security hardening and exploit mitigation
Integrate and distribute third-party drivers such as graphics
Expand driver support for various platforms
Collaborate with global team members to ship the world's most widely used Linux kernel
Requirements
- Strong understanding of operating systems and Linux kernel
- Confident in writing high-quality C and possibly Rust code
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global team
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
