About The Role

Modulr is a product-based fintech company building real-time payment and account-to-account solutions for businesses. Modulr’s platform powers fast, reliable, and secure money movement for enterprises, banks, and partners, with a strong emphasis on scalability, compliance, and engineering quality. The Pune engineering team contributes to core backend services and platform capabilities that operate in high-volume, low-latency environments, supporting modern payment workflows and integrations.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, analyze, and document backend services and components for Modulr’s products.

Build and maintain RESTful APIs with a focus on performance, reliability, and clean architecture.

Work with Java (8+), Spring, and Hibernate to implement robust backend solutions.

Collaborate with team members to identify software needs and propose effective technical solutions.

Support testing efforts by integrating and maintaining unit and integration tests.

Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Proactively identify bottlenecks, risks, and improvement opportunities, and help drive change.

Contribute to design and code reviews to uphold engineering standards and best practices.

Document best practices, system designs, reference architectures, and implementation guides.

Coordinate with DevOps and platform teams to support deployments and operational readiness.

Requirements

Experience with one or more backend languages such as Java, Golang, or C#.
Hands-on experience with Java 8+, Spring, and Hibernate.
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
Experience with REST API design and development.
Working knowledge of RDBMS technologies, particularly PostgreSQL.
Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit, Cucumber, and Mockito.
Familiarity with microservices architecture concepts.
Ability to work effectively in an Agile environment with changing requirements.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
